A honeymoon near Kruger

The Zarafa is adults only, with just five private villas and no shared pool anywhere on the property. Carved Balinese teak doors open into your own garden, with a private rim-flow pool, terrace and gazebo. The villas are set far enough apart that nobody overlooks you, giving you the space to disappear into your own world for a while.

Dinner and breakfast are included every day, so once you arrive there is very little left to organise unless you want to. Kruger National Park is twenty minutes away when you feel like exploring, and your pool is only a few steps away when you do not.

Inside, an extra-length king canopy bed sits beneath soft mosquito netting, alongside a deep soaking tub and spacious walk-in shower. In our one-bedroom villas, a fireplace in the lounge makes cooler evenings particularly inviting.

Your villa is serviced daily, quietly and discreetly, with our team working around your privacy rather than through it.

Phabeni Gate is just 17 km from the lodge. We arrange private game drives into Kruger with guides we know and use ourselves. On an early drive, breakfast is enjoyed inside the park, leaving you back at your villa with most of the afternoon still ahead of you.

The Panorama Route lies about an hour west, with Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window and the waterfalls of the escarpment all within an easy day out.

For most couples, three or four nights is just right. It gives you a day in Kruger, a day on the Panorama Route, and at least one day when you do not leave the villa at all, which is often the day guests remember most.

Dinner is five courses on a menu that changes every day, with each evening inspired by a different country. Eat in the restaurant above the valley, or have it served in your own villa.

For one night of the stay, most couples book dinner for two in the garden: a private corner under fairy lights, lanterns and candles, with no other tables and nobody passing through.

We can also have your villa waiting with a romantic turn-down, with sparkling wine or champagne, flowers and chocolates, set up before you arrive or while you are at dinner.
